On yet one more highway journey we occurred alongside this unusual type of filling station–a tribute of kinds to the Teapot Dome Scandal. It has been 100 years because the ensuing investigation, which drastically embarrassed the Harding Administration and later despatched Secretary of the Interior Albert Fall to jail on corruption costs. In a twist, in 1985 the Department of the Interior added the station to the National Register of Historic Places.
