How can vertical farming improve food security?

As a researcher in agronomy and systems science, I study the impact of new technologies on agricultural and food systems in many countries. I am particularly interested in the interaction between agriculture, human and food production, the development of tools and methods that contribute to more sustainable food production, and I study the impact of agriculture on human health and well-being.

What is vertical farming?

The concept of vertical farming is quite new and not yet mainstream. Vertical farming is farming in columns or towers. It is a promising concept that can improve everything from food production efficiency to soil health, water use and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Vertical farming is an ideal solution to the need for more food production to meet the growing demand, but it also provides an opportunity to improve the efficiency of food production.

Agriculture is a science that uses science and technology to improve crop and livestock production. By allowing farmers to use a portion of their land for more food production, vertical farming has been suggested as a way to improve agronomy and food security. In particular, the vertical farming method can greatly increase the yield of small plots, allowing farmers to grow large seedlings in small cages, each with several hundred or thousands of plants that bear fruit or vegetables throughout the year.
