Studiocanal has acquired a majority stake in Dutch FilmWorks, a number one impartial producer/distributor in the Benelux area, for an undisclosed sum.
The producer of local-language titles, together with My Best Friend Anne Frank and vacation household franchise The Claus Family, Dutch FilmWorks can be the main indie distributor in the Benelux area, having launched such movies as The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Midway and The Wolf of Wall Street. The firm boasts a movie catalog of greater than 900 Dutch and worldwide titles.
StudioCanal will add Dutch FilmWorks to its rising slate of European manufacturing labels. The firm, which is owned by Vivendi-backed Canal+ Group, already controls Tandem Production and Lailaps Films in Germany, RED Production, Urban Myth Films and SunnyMarchTV in the U.Ok., Spain’s Bambu Producciones and SAM Productions in Scandinavia.
