NC State radio voice Gary Hahn suspended after ‘unlawful aliens’ reference

NC State radio broadcaster Gary Hahn was suspended indefinitely after referring to “unlawful aliens” in El Paso, Texas, throughout the Wolfpack’s 16-12 loss to Maryland within the Duke’s Mayo Bowl in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Friday.

Hahn made the feedback as he relayed the rating of the Solar Bowl, saying, “Down amongst all of the unlawful aliens in El Paso, it is UCLA 14 and Pittsburgh 6.”

Learfield Communications, the NC State broadcast rights holder, employs Hahn and confirmed the suspension to ESPN.

“LEARFIELD has suspended Wolfpack Sports activities Community Play-by-Play announcer Gary Hahn from his settlement indefinitely following feedback made throughout right now’s Duke’s Mayo Bowl radio broadcast,” Learfield mentioned in a press release.

El Paso officers have declared a state of emergency as migrants have continued to cross into the town from Mexico looking for asylum.

Hahn has been the voice of NC State soccer and males’s basketball since 1991.
