MARKET: Sensex, Nifty consolidate; HUL, HDFC twins shine; Tata Steel cracks

Sectorally, metals, realty, oil & fuel indices on the slumped 0.7-2 per cent. While, IT, financials and pharma have been greater.

Among shares, Vedanta plunged practically 8 per cent after the corporate invited expressions of curiosity (EOI) to promote its Tamil Nadu-based (Tuticorin) copper plant.
